I think we all know by now that I’m incredibly lazy when it comes to cooking, so, of course, my first forays into “health food” started with the frozen section of my local grocery store.

Enter Kashi. Yeah, we all know about Kashi cereal and other breakfast foods, but did you know about their frozen foods?

The first thing I noticed was their frozen pizzas. They do have many varieties now, but all I’d noticed were the Mediterranean (spinach and feta), Garlic Chicken (soooo creamy), and Five Cheese Tomato. And you know what? They’re all sooooo good.

The Kashi crust has this lovely, nutty flavor. It reminds me of home baked whole grain bread, and it does use their 7 whole grain mix. Honestly, I wouldn’t object if they sold the crust alone and let you build your own pizza- but their own toppings are really good, too.

The flavors are all blended so perfectly, any messing around with it reduces the flavorful pizzas to something, well, bland. My husband is a cheese junkie and insists that I add more to his side of the pizzas since the Kashi pizzas don’t have much cheese on them at all. But all that extra cheese just masks the wonderful sauce and seasonings- particularly on the Five Cheese Tomato pizza which is a little spicy when left alone.

In addition to the whole grains in the crust, and the real ingredients on the crust, Kashi pizzas have half the calories of other frozen pizzas. I wouldn’t recommend eating a whole one by itself, as they’re bout 900 calories, but it’s better than eating a whole other brand pizza, which is almost 2000 calories!

If you want to know more about Kashi frozen pizzas, I wrote a full review  a while back, and Kashi’s website also features the pizzas.
