Nori Nutrition Facts/Laver Nutrition Facts
Posted by: WordVixen in Nutrition Information, Tuesday Nutrition
There has been quite a bit of hubbub about sea vegetables (seaweed) and how packed with nutrients they are. One such sea vegetable is called laver. Laver is the the plant that is pressed into sheets to become nori. Nori, in turn, is used to roll sushi in.
So nori nutrition facts are the same as laver nutrition facts. It’s difficult to pin down exact amounts due to differences in the actual nori sheets or laver flakes, as well as to actually measure the sheets and flakes themselves.
But what you can say, is that nori/laver is high in Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), Vitamin K, Thiamin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Phosphorus and Zinc, Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Iron, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.
And the wonderful thing about nutrients in seaweed? It’s mostly bioavailable. Try saying that about most vitamins!
