Are you interested in earning your holistic nutrition degree?

If so, you have quite a number of options available to you. But first, you’ll want to decide why you want a holistic nutrition degree. Do you want to become a holistic nutritionist and help people? Or do you simply want to become as knowledgeable as possible for your own health, or that of loved ones? A holistic nutrition degree will certainly allow you to help others as well as yourself and loved ones, but the time and expense involved in getting a holistic nutrition degree may make obtaining one next to useless if it’s for more personal reasons.

If you want to earn a holistic nutrition degree in order to open up a practice, there are several schools to choose from. I know that Clayton College of Natural Healing offers a holistic nutrition degree, and Hawthorn University has certification in holistic nutrition. There are several other colleges and universities, both online and offline, that offer holistic nutrition degrees, and you’ll have to research each one individually to find the best fit for you.

An alternative to a holistic nutrition degree is to get a degree in another area of the health field, such as becoming a registered dietician. Penn Foster has a Fitness and Nutrition degree. You could also get a degree simply as a nutritionist or as a holistic healer rather than a holistic nutrition degree. These fields still carry more weight than a holistic nutrition degree does, since it’s still a growing area.  You could apply additional courses in holistic nutrition instead of simply  obtaining a holistic nutrition degree, which would give you the weight of the traditional health degrees, along with the helpful knowledge of holistic nutrition, and would position you well in this growing field.

However, if your goal in obtaining a holistic nutrition degree is simply to help you improve your own health, or the health of loved ones, you may want to consider simply taking a few courses in holistic nutrition at your local library, health food store, or college campus. A holistic nutrition degree isn’t really necessary if you’re not planning to use it in a professional capacity, and a handful of good books on the subject, and good research skills should be more than enough to help you on your way to a healthier you. With or without a holistic nutrition degree.
